Sunshine Terrace and Behavioral Health is a community that provides support and therapy for adults who are dealing with mental illness. Our goal is to help residents lead a fulfilling and productive life. Since 1949, we have been committed to helping those with mental illnesses and our treatment program is one of the longest-running in Spokane County. This program is designed to help those who have been diagnosed with a mental health illness including clinical depression, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, psychosis and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Assisted Living

If you're looking for a place to stay after leaving the hospital, Enhanced Assisted Living at Sunshine Health Facilities is a great option. We've expanded our Spokane Valley campus to provide Enhanced Assisted Living with three levels of care. Short-term Enhanced Assisted Living is the perfect way to transition you or your loved one back home after an in-patient hospital stay.

Memory Care

Sunshine Memory Care helps those with Alzheimer's disease or dementia focus on thoughts and actions to help them complete tasks. The focus is also on keeping those with dementia interested and engaged in the world around them. Reducing distractions, changes in routine, noise, and establishing understanding is vital to improving the quality of life. With a specialty in caring for adults with developmental disabilities, they have the certifications, expertise and experience to accommodate and care for disabled adults through all stages of life.

Hospice Care:

They provide personalized and compassionate hospice care services for residents and their families during the end-stages of life. Respect and dignity are top priorities for residents and their families – especially during these times.

Hoyer Lift:

They have an on-site Hoyer lift available for those who need it, and their caregivers have proper training and experience using it.

Seeking Medicaid Resident

SUNSHINE TERRACE accepts Medicaid, and is seeking a Medicaid resident for this available room. Medicaid recipients typically need to have an assessment from Medicaid which will include the resident’s level of required care, as well as the daily and monthly dollar amount that Medicaid will cover for their care. There may also be certain waivers available for qualifying residents, which may cover additional items that Medicaid itself will not cover. Each state has very different Medicaid rules, coverages and limits, as well as different available waiver programs. If you have not already done so, please contact your local Medicaid office to determine what you need to do in order to get an official assessment, and if you qualify for any additional coverage. Once you have that, you can contact this facility (or any other facility that accepts Medicaid) and they will ask you some questions about the care you require and about your Medicaid assessment. The facility will make the final determination whether to accept a resident or not. Room & Care encourages residents to contact multiple facilities to improve their odds of being accepted faster. Facilities look at factors such as whether the resident will fit in with their other current residents, if the resident requires a similar level of care as the other residents in the facility, current number of available caregivers or a lack thereof - among other factors.

SUNSHINE TERRACE provides 24/7 supervision, emergency assistance and daily companionship as a base service for all residents.

Meals

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included every day. Accommodations can be made for any dietary restrictions or special doctor-prescribed diets. Additional food items such as coffee, tea and snacks between meals are also included.

Medications Management

Medications Management is provided as a service for all residents. Caregivers and staff keep track of administration schedules as well as prescription refill schedules.

Blood Pressure and Weight Checks

Regular blood pressure and weight checks are done at scheduled intervals, and recorded to track irregularities.

Housekeeping and Laundry

SUNSHINE TERRACE does all daily housekeeping throughout the home as well as in your room. Laundry is provided for your flat linens on a set schedule or sooner if needed. Your personal laundry is also washed and folded regularly by care staff.

Activities

A range of social and recreational activities are offered every week to keep residents occupied, entertained and engaged. Feel free to ask what types of activities are scheduled for this week.

Utilities

All standard home utilities are included in the base price. (This excludes personal cell phone plans which are paid for by the resident or family.)

Transportation

Local transportation for certain scheduled outings, as well as doctor visits is provided at no additional cost.
