The Cottages at Edgewood, a Memory Care Community built and opened in Autumn 2015, offers three small, cozy cottages, each with a maximum of 20 residents. This design concept allows us to provide your loved one with the personal attention he or she deserves in a familiar, intimate, calm and safe environment.

Each Cottage opens and exits into an expansive but secure outside interior courtyard allowing residents the freedom to safely stroll, exercise and enjoy open spaces among landscaped walkways and surroundings.

Each cottage is self-contained with its own kitchen, dining room, laundry, living room area with fireplace and private resident rooms. Residents create a sense of truly being at home by personalizing their bedrooms with familiar furnishings and cherished mementos.

Here you will find an intimate environment where residents receive individual attention provided by a professionally managed, highly trained and compassionate staff, available 24 hours a day.

Memory Care

The Cottages at Edgewood, a memory care community, is ideally located in downtown Edgewood with easy access to all services. All of our cottages are secure and open into an outside courtyard to allow residents to stroll, exercise and enjoy open space and fresh air. Your family will feel at ease knowing your loved one is at home at The Cottages.

Community Amenities

Each cottage is self-contained with its own kitchen, dining room, laundry, living room area with fireplace and private resident rooms. Residents create a sense of truly being at home by personalizing their bedrooms with familiar furnishings and cherished mementos. The Cottages at Edgewood is a Memory Care facility located in Edgewood, WA. In Washington State, Memory Care is a term used to describe the professional care provided to individuals who suffer from Alzheimer’s or other types of dementia. Memory Care in WA can typically be found across 3 primary types of assisted living – Adult Family Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, and Nursing Homes. Memory Care is normally considered an Add-On service in addition to the daily assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) required by the resident. Pets:

The Cottages at Edgewood does not allow pets. This does not necessarily mean there are no pets in the facility, but that they do not allow residents to bring their own.

Smoking Policy:

The Cottages at Edgewood does not allow smoking on the premises, but they do allow the use of Vapor/E-cigarettes in designated areas. They have one or more designated areas outside where Vapor/E-cigarette users can vape away from the building and away from other residents. Vaping indoors or anywhere outside the designated areas is strictly prohibited.

Short-Term / Respite Care:

The Cottages at Edgewood offers Short-Term / Respite Care with daily rates for anyone who needs to stay for less than a month. Respite Care services can offer relief for current caregivers, allowing them to take a much-needed break.

Hospice Care:

They provide personalized and compassionate hospice care services for residents and their families during the end-stages of life. Respect and dignity are top priorities for residents and their families – especially during these times.

Seeking Medicaid Resident

The Cottages at Edgewood accepts Medicaid, and is seeking a Medicaid resident for this available room. Medicaid recipients typically need to have an assessment from Medicaid which will include the resident’s level of required care, as well as the daily and monthly dollar amount that Medicaid will cover for their care. There may also be certain waivers available for qualifying residents, which may cover additional items that Medicaid itself will not cover. Each state has very different Medicaid rules, coverages and limits, as well as different available waiver programs. If you have not already done so, please contact your local Medicaid office to determine what you need to do in order to get an official assessment, and if you qualify for any additional coverage. Once you have that, you can contact this facility (or any other facility that accepts Medicaid) and they will ask you some questions about the care you require and about your Medicaid assessment. The facility will make the final determination whether to accept a resident or not. Room & Care encourages residents to contact multiple facilities to improve their odds of being accepted faster. Facilities look at factors such as whether the resident will fit in with their other current residents, if the resident requires a similar level of care as the other residents in the facility, current number of available caregivers or a lack thereof - among other factors.

What's included?

The Cottages at Edgewood provides 24/7 supervision, emergency assistance and daily companionship as a base service for all residents.

Meals

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included every day. Accommodations can be made for any dietary restrictions or special doctor-prescribed diets. Additional food items such as coffee, tea and snacks between meals are also included.

Medications Management

Medications Management is provided as a service for all residents. Caregivers and staff keep track of administration schedules as well as prescription refill schedules.

Blood Pressure and Weight Checks

Regular blood pressure and weight checks are done at scheduled intervals, and recorded to track irregularities.

Housekeeping and Laundry

The Cottages at Edgewood does all daily housekeeping throughout the home as well as in your room. Laundry is provided for your flat linens on a set schedule or sooner if needed. Your personal laundry is also washed and folded regularly by care staff.

Activities

A range of social and recreational activities are offered every week to keep residents occupied, entertained and engaged. Feel free to ask what types of activities are scheduled for this week.

Utilities

All standard home utilities are included in the base price. (This excludes personal cell phone plans which are paid for by the resident or family.)

Transportation

Local transportation for certain scheduled outings, as well as doctor visits is provided at no additional cost.
